Nuisance

Nuisance complaints regarding public health issues are investigated on a priority basis. Complaints that are not enforceable by this office may be referred to an appropriate agency.

Complaints will not be investigated without the complainant information including name and phone number. This information is necessary so that the Health Inspector may contact the complainant for further information. Complainant information will not be made available unless required by law in court action.

Following a complaint, our inspector may visit the site to take pictures and observe any violations present on the property. If the property is in violation of any health codes, a written notice will be sent to the property owner, giving a deadline to correct any violations. If no corrections are made, the owner may be sent a second written notice or the case may be referred to the Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office.
