IT Network and Server Specialist

Description :

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled Network & Virtualization Specialist to join our IT team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and performance of our network infrastructure, Windows servers, and VMware environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage Windows Server environments (including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
  • Deploy and administer virtual machines using VMware vSphere
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues
  • Monitor network performance and identify potential problems
  • Implement and maintain network security best practices
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on network devices and servers
  • Document network configurations and procedures
  • Support end-users with network-related issues

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a network administration role
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking protocols
  • Proven experience with Windows Server administration (2016, 2019, or later)
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere (vCenter Server, ESXi)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with network security solutions (firewalls, intrusion detection)
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell)
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience managing SSL certificates
